Privacy Policy
How CSS SOS collects, uses, and protects your information.
This Privacy Policy describes how Community Support Service ("we", "our", "us") handles information in our mobile application ("CSS SOS") and related services. By using the app, you agree to this Policy.
What We Do Not Collect
- We do not access, capture, store, or transmit photos or videos.
- We do not use your device camera. If a camera permission appears in a build, it is not used by CSS SOS functionality.
Information We May Process
To deliver emergency-response features, CSS SOS may process the following:
- Location (Approx./Precise) - to share your position when you trigger an alert, route support, and show incident context. Location is used only for the alert flow and related features.
- Name - to identify and verify your account.
- Email address - for account-related communication and service notices.
- Mobile number - to contact you when you have triggered an alert and may be in distress.
- Diagnostics & logs - crash reports and basic technical telemetry to improve reliability (no content of communications).
How We Use Information
- Provide and operate emergency alerts and related features.
- Contact a user in distress after an alert is triggered.
- Improve app performance, stability, and safety.
- Communicate service updates and respond to support requests.
Permissions
Depending on your platform and settings, the app may request permissions such as:
- Location - required for incident accuracy and responder routing.
- Network - to contact our backend securely.
- Notifications - to deliver critical updates about your alerts.
We do not require camera permission for CSS SOS functionality. If a build artifact shows android.permission.CAMERA due to a third-party library declaration, CSS SOS does not use it and does not access your camera.
Data Retention
We retain incident and account data only as long as necessary for legal, security, and operational needs, then delete or anonymize it.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited data with service providers under contract (e.g., hosting, analytics, error reporting) who must protect it and use it only to provide services to us. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect safety and prevent abuse.
Mobile numbers are shared with third-party responders only to facilitate communication during an active alert, such as medical or fire emergencies.
Mobile numbers are not shared with third parties for marketing, advertising, or statistical collection purposes.
Your Choices
- Control app permissions at any time in your device settings.
- Request access, correction, or deletion by emailing [email protected].
International Transfers
If data is processed outside your country, we implement safeguards appropriate to the transfer.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date above.
