Sterna
An Intelligent Logistics & Reporting Platform for Field Operations.
Internal Designation: Project Routings
Beginning as a React Native mobile application named Routings, Sterna evolved into a full-stack logistics platform with a dedicated .NET Core backend, Postgres persistence, Next.js web frontend, and proprietary Genetic Algorithm routing engine. It has been relied upon for years by telecommunications and industrial service providers to plan routes, capture field data, and generate professional reports. The system represents a multi-year architectural evolution from Firebase prototypes to sovereign, containerized infrastructure running inside the Orrery Stack.

Project Strategy
Key Decisions
- Transitioned from pure Google Maps route optimization to proprietary Genetic Algorithm to reduce API cost.
- Separated mobile field operations from dedicated back-office web frontend.
- Re-architected backend from Firebase to .NET Core with Postgres persistence.
- Implemented dynamic Trello board ingestion for operational ticket automation.
- Designed modular reporting engine capable of generating client-ready PDF documents.
Challenges Solved
- Balancing optimization accuracy with API token cost constraints.
- Migrating from Firebase Realtime Database to structured relational persistence.
- Designing flexible job card templates for dynamic data capture.
- Supporting multiple industries beyond telecommunications.
Future Plans
- Enhance multi-contractor tenant isolation.
- Introduce advanced optimization heuristics.
- Modernize mobile application for cross-platform maintainability.
- Expand reporting customization engine.
